Why dive in Alabama?
Without doubt, Pelham, AL features one of the best freshwater dive sites close to Atlanta. In less than 2.5 hours from now, you could be on the dock prepping for a dive. This former quarry filled overnight when workers exposed a spring many years ago. For this reason, the water quality is exceptional for a freshwater dive site. As instructors, we love this place because it provides the ability to teach a wide variety of courses, ranging from Open Water all the way through Divemaster. Students love it because there are lots of things to see and do. Additionally, the facility is well maintained by a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

What is there to do?
Dive profiles range from 30 ft to over 130 ft. Most dive sites consist of 'Wreck' dives. Below is a partial list of some of the things that can be found here:
  • Sunken cars
  • Several old fire trucks
  • Several motor boats
  • Intact sail boat with sail and rigging
  • Yellow school bus (appropriately trained divers can penetrate the bus)
  • Fiberglass Dolphin named "Flipper"
  • Giant pipes (6ft+ in diameter)

Additionally, there are several species of fish and turtles that divers can observe and interact with. The tame fish love to eat hotdogs. Yes, you read correctly - hotdogs.
